    Restless1- It's probably best to email him using the link on the SuperpID.com web site. I'm not sure if the paypal order forms are setup yet.

    There was an ad for it in this forum for the past day or two anyway. I will order one for my smaller CNC machine also.

    Once I get mine running, I'll probably buy another for my next router before the discount ends.

    I measured my machine, and found that from the spindle, through the gantry e-chain, down the gantry side, and through the X axis e-chain, is about 15ft.

    Today, I got a package from Mcmaster-Carr with 20 ft of flexible power cable for the spindle, and 25ft of shielded audio cable for the sensor. For now, I'll probably set it up for manual operation. Not sure if I can fit a parallel port card and another breakout board in my box.

    Restless1- I PM'd you, I think the email system is fine but Val and myself are in Australia so email replies can be anywhere from straight away to 24hours depending on whether we are asleep at the time.

    CarveOne- Our airmail of parcels is generally about 7 to 12 days to the USA, it's been right on 8 days so far (and weekend now). Sorry they didn't get there before the weekend.

    Khalid- Yours has been in the mail for 7 days, I have no idea how long airmail takes to Pakistan.

    Ger21- Just let me know what you need in terms of install support. Why do you need another parallel card or BOB? The Super-PID only needs 1 wire attaching to the PC parallel port to the port's output pin that turns the spindle on.

    Provided your 5v supply is grounded to the same potential as your PC case ground you can just connect that wire direct to the PC parallel port. Sorry if I'm missing something but getting the PC to turn the PID on/off with that one wire should be very easy. The shielded audio cable shoudl be ok if it 2-core + shield. I would suggest not messing with the sensor end, the opto sensor is small and fussy to solder (which is already done for you) so to extend the cable just add to the other end.


    Router compatibility!

    I've been getting some support emails about this, basically this is what I know so far;

    1. If your router has NO internal speed control the Super-PID is directly compatible.

    2. If your router has a speed control with a bypass "click" switch at full speed position it should be fully compatible. This switch just bypasses the router's circuitry by shorting out the router's internal TRIAC. My Ozito router is this type and this is a common system.

    3. If your router has no bypass switch on it's speed dial, then you need another router or to open your router and modify it. If the PCB is easy to get to this is an easy task, you just need to join all 3 legs of the TRIAC with a blob of solder. This mod will not hurt the router (it is the same as a "bypass" switch) and should be fully reversible if you want to undo the mod later. But I should warn this may void your router warranty and involves mains voltages so don't attempt this unless you are confident/skilled/qualified etc depending on your abilities and any relevant laws in your area.


    Gecko G540 compatibility.
    As far as I know the Super-PID and G540 are compatible, and the Super-PID speed pot input can be driven from the G540 0v-10v VFD analog output. I'm in the process of nutting this out with Mariss but I believe all you need to do this is two 10k resistors, to divide the 0v-10v signal down to 0v-5v. I will post more when I have more info.

    Also the "TACH" output of the SuperPID should be compatible to connect to one of the four G540 inputs, to send that signal back to the PC for RPM display on the PC screen. Again I will post more when I know the specifics.

    Thanks RomanLini.. I am anxiously waiting for the SuperPID... Once I get it i will post some installation related questions along with my Router Pictures... This will help the rest for installation procedure step-by-step through the pictures..

    I didn't used my CNC for 6-months and I have to overhaul it so that the Lead screw can run well without hitch...

    If CarveOne remember, I have posted my new Router(a 2200W, 8000 ~23000RPM variable speed router) pictures a year ago, which i purchased to get rid the noise and to do milling PVC and Aluminum..but due to its heavy weight and my laziness i could not replaced my 26000RPM fixed speed router...

    Now, Thanks God we have a Low-cost Speed controller that retain the Torque...

    My parallel port goes into my xylotex, which doesn't have terminals for the extra pins. I think I can get a connector get access to them. I'll dig out the old paperwork and may order from Digikey

    When I was making custom cables to go from parallel ports to my G540, I bought the db25 connectors at Radioshack (if you don't want to wait for shipping).

    After browsing through this thread, I see that possibly Mach3 can compensate for spindle speed, with it's Calibrate Spindle function. But, Mach 3 needs the actual rpm of the motor to calibrate it. Not sure if the signal from the SuperPID will work?

    The "TACH" output from the Super-PID should be compatible with Mach3 (from what I read in the Mach3 instructions you linked before) as it is a logic-level output at 1 pulse per revolution.

    I don't know enough yet to say for sure about the Mach3 Calibrate Spindle function, but the general calibration in the Mach3 spindle menu only calibrates linearly, it does not have an option for the offset zero; ie SuperPID 0v-5v is 5000-30000 RPM, not 0-30000.

    Either way the SuperPID should allow *some* speed control direct from Mach3 but at this point it looks like the user would need to send command speed X to get speed Y. This may be good enough functionality for some users and should work right now.

    Once I have more information it may be possible to revise the Super-PID firmware to directly accept the 0-30000 RPM command which is not that hard for me to change.

    Just ordered my Molex connectors I needed, so I'll be able to wire the SuperPID to the parallel port through my Xylotex.

    Now all I need are the Super PID and some time.

    Thanks Khalid. My knowledge pales to the point of non-existence as compared to your knowledge of software programming. It's all voodoo and magic to me. The CNC embroidery machine work is lost on me but I do read it.
