This is a little project I did for my daughter. It was my first time doing this actual process, so I wanted to experiment a little.
The stock is 1/8" Sintra (Expanded PVC). This is some leftover from a dragon cable project years ago.
In order to get any detail, I needed to use a 1mm carbide end mill. I don't have to tell you how fragile these small end mills are. This is one reason I decided to use the Sintra, as it is very forgiving when experimenting.
If I decide to go with something harder, I will probably have to do multiple passes to keep from breaking the bit.

I did have some issues holding the center of the stock down, so I will have to make some sort of fixture using a vacuum or double sided tape.
