Hi Guys, Have anybody tried mounting Web cam and a line laser on a router to capture 3D image using David scanner software. Pics are attached here of the router I have and plastic part I want to scan, would like to share comments and advice from the gurus. |

| There's a Mach3 plugin for doing that with Mach3.

Well, if you mount the webcam and the laser on the router to scan across an area, how will the DAVID software see any parallax at all? The DAVID software requires the camera to be mounted in one position, the object to also be stationary (in front of a special set of registration marks mounted in a 90 degree vertical orientation). The laser scan line is the only thing that moves. From what I've seen in the DAVID software documentation, the laser scan line generator needs to pivot up and down, from a fixed point. Are we both thinking of the same required setup for DAVID software? Sincerely, DIY-Guy "Persuing low-tech, high-tech, CNC anyway I can get it to work!" P.S. Try an inexpensive green laser as a source for your line generator, inexpensive webcams see that color much better than a keychain red laser pointer. Last edited by DIY-Guy; 06-11-2008 at 02:41 AM.
