Hi: I am interested on cut some motor block gaskets (hi performance copper) I will have to reproduce it from the original one. How can i do that with a digitaizer or similar. Any advice will be welcome el borincano |

| I don't know the accuracy, but perhaps you can use a camera ? Take picture ( higher the rez the better ) Ive read its better to use some distance to eliminate some of the lens distortion ( what I made didnt require this , just be square and center with the part.) Use a picture editor to clip the pic to what you need Note a few refernce dimensions Load picture into vector program ( cad ,inkscape whatever) scale until the pic matches your reference measurements manualy trace over send dxf to sheet cam( or what ever you use for g code) I use this method on small stuff pretty well I mean its easy and cheap enough if you make a paper one first to see if its what your after Dave |

One thing you must do is take the overall dimensions of the original in both X & Y, and then scale the tracing in both X & Y directions. If the bitmap is a good resolution it is surprising how accurate this method can be! ![]() Andy |
