Hi all, After a very long hiatus (many apologies) I have finally got around to releasing ScanZ as a freeware application. I receive huge amounts of queries regarding this software, so I will now answer the three most common questions: Q. Can ScanZ scan a relief? A. No. It's theoretically possible, but at this time it will only scan 360 degree 3D objects. Q. How accurate is ScanZ? A. It was never designed as a technical application, only ever artistic. The results are not 100% accurate, but may suffice for many applications. Q. What file formats are the objects saved in? A. At this time, Wavefront obj files. Other formats may be added in the future. I am interested in feedback about what formats are preferred. Please remember that this application was never created with CNC in mind. My 3D background is artistic. I do not have a CNC machine, so much of what is discussed on this forum is completely foreign to me. That's not to say that I won't try and help out with any requests I get. Please remember that this software is free and offered to help support the community spirit. If you don't like it, remember that it cost you nothing! ScanZ can be downloaded from my website: http://www.brucerayne.com/scanz.html Regards, Bruce Rayne |

| Bruce - thanks for making it freeware. I've just d/l it and look forward to trying it out. Up to present I've been looking at several methods of getting into 3d scanning, and this is one that matches my present equipment. However, post scanning software it still "terra incognita" to me, so I shall look forward to others suggestions for suitable progs. Regards John

| Bruce, Thanks for making it available in any flavour. If you decide to continue development of it as a shareware or payware version, based on what's available out there now, you should get a decent response. ATB Iain --EDIT-- Unfortunately, it appears to be a bad download, it maxes (sp?) out at less than 800K and winzip says it "..Cannot open file. It does not appear to be a valid archive.." --EDIT--
