Hi. A simple cheap home made 2D touch probe. I have used it with emc2. It works only with electrically conducting workpieces. It worked for me. The metal pin with the small round tip comes from a old video recorder, it guided the tape. Around the top i placed a small heat shrink tube, to electrically isolate the touch pin from the rest of the machine. And the softness of the heat shrink tube gives the touch pin a little bit flexibility. The touch pin is put in the drill head. Gently close the drill head around the heat shrink tube. Then connect a electric wire to the touch pin. Connect the other wire to the metal work piece. Connect the wires to the correct pins on the parallel port and set emc2 config. Very simple. If the touch pin touches the work piece then the connection is made, and the computer gets the signal. It is not a very good touch probe. But it is much better then having no touch probe at all. I never used a touch probe before. It was great to see the results :-) Is there a cheaper and easier way to make a touch probe then this ?? :-) Hope it is of use to someone. Have fun with it.. Vroemm. |

| I would love to get something like this going with emc, could you explain how to set it up in emc? I mean, do you need a power source or can the computer supply it? How to set up the pins? I bought my motor set up as a connected kit to skip the electronics which allowed me to remain an electronics nitwit
