Mr.Smith, i was wondering what the max SPS and max settings are that a the deskcnc drivers can withstand using the Pittman motors purchased from you guys? Can this thing work as fast as a gecko system, or these amps too small for fast work? |

| The 2nd generation SV-500 drives run 70,000 steps per second in 1X mode ( 280,000 sps at the encoders) and about 170,000 sps in 4X mode (direct). The pittman motors that we used to sell were 30 volt motors. Their max rpm was ~94,400 sps in 4x mode. Fred Smith - IMService http://www.cadcamcadcam.com |

Mr.Smith the Servo boards that i bought from you are first generation. with the pittman motors. IM just wondering on an 8TPI ball screw, would i be able to run the machine at 400-600mm/min with no problem? or would there not be enough power to drive them that fast? |

| This was answered by phone. The answer is the 8 TPI ball screws are 2.8 ratio compared the the standard 20 tpi screws. The theoretical top end of the Pittman motors is 25 ipm at 30vdc. 2.8 * 25 = 70 ipm theoretical top end. 70 ipm = 1778 mm/min. The actual machine result will depend on the gib adjustment and alignments. Probably somewhere between 40 and 60 ipm will be the result. This may need to be geared down with a timing belt to get enough power for heavy cutting in aluminum or steel. I would try it direct first, then add a belt reducer, only if necessary.
