| I downloaded the free 3D files at vectorart3D, I cut them and they look nothing like others i have seen at vectorart3D. I need help!!! James Booth emailed me and told me to try a 1/8" and 1/16" ball nose, I got them; and try a stepover of 10% of the tool dia. and I'am useing oak wood and I'am also scaleing it down to 3"X3" inches Under stl machining: Blank i mark male, rough pass is 1/8" with a .110 stepover roughing para; rough dir I go against the grain of the wood how much stock should i be leaving for the rough pass? stock to leave is .032 Finishing toll is the 1/16" ball nose with a stepover of .055 finishing pass what should the stepover be XYZ on rough and finish and stock to leave? and when doing thes files deskcnc gives a M06 command where it changes to the finishing pass, this is where i would hit the pause button so i can change bits. only my machine keeps running does not stop at M06 is there another command I should be useing? Also could i be doing this with just a finish pass or useing the 1/16" bit for both passes? Thanks Brady |

| If you use 10% of the tool dia for the stepover, your finish pass stepover should be about .006, not .055. If you try to skip the roughing and finish with a 1/16" tool, there's a good chance you'll break it.
