    DeskCNC Axes Errors

    Hi All,

I am using Edgecam v10.5 and have created a post for DeskCNC to run a small router. We are using edgecam to machine 3D solid models and then using the program that is output from the post to load into the DeskCNC.
The problem with this though is that the DeskCNC does not seem to be controlling the program in the correct way...for example, when machining pockets with different pockets inside at different levels, the machine does not cut these pockets as they are represented in the model, but for some reason creeps in the Z plane giving false depths of cut...has anyone else experienced this and creeping in the X an Y axis...I have checked the Code that is output for any errors but as its only G code of linear or circular motion there's nothing to command these errors,we have checked the machine as well, and can now only put it down to the DeskCNC control board..it's really frustrating and any input would be gratefully received.

    Thanks

    Rob

This sounds like lost steps, and probably has little or nothing to do with DeskCNC. Many people experience this with stepper systems.

Check that your machine returns to the original position after the completion of a program. If it does not, chances are you are attempting to over drive your steppers ( too fast max velocity settings). Slowing down the max feeds and rapids and/or extending the acceleration time by increasing the scale factor will usually cure the problem( backoff maybe 15-20 percent max).

If you have to backoff too much, you may have the driver interface or motor connections setup so that noise is affecting the accuracy. You need to have step, direction, ground and +5v connected for most stepper drives to function correctly.

Your problem is most likely an electrical or configuration problem as the DeskCNC controller produces a very precise and noise free step and direction signal.
