getting started

Hi guys maybe I'm a bit thick but how do you get started in contourcam. I've downloaded the trial version its in DesignCad but where do I start, have tried a few things but no joy. The help files are really just an explination of the relevant commands. After creating a profile in DesignCad where do you go from there do you select the entities for your profile before starting contourcam or after. I've tried both. Surely a short getting started tutorial would'nt go amiss.

Hi Sarah have you just purchased Contour Cam, I,ve had it for over 3 years and it has'nt been improved upon in all that time no updates whatsoever, still stuck on V16, apart from some to help it load a bit better. I was hoping the 4th axis may have materialised but not so I'm affraid. Dont know if its because it has'nt sold enough to warrant time spent improving it. And as you can see from this and the ContourCam forum it appears that very few people are using it. Which is a shame really because the concept of intergrating it with DesignCad is a good one. I have'nt used it for some time now because my old pc went down and I couldnt get it to load on windows 7 without a lot of hassel so moved on to HeeksCNC.

Sorry to sound a bit negative just my tupence worth.

Getting started with ContourCAM

Hi,

My best suggestion is to work through some of the examples in the tutorials.

If you go Start > Programs > ContourCAM you'll find the ContourCAM User's Guide.

Chapter 7 contains a number of 2D tutorials and chapter 8 are 3 D tutorials.

Have fun!!
