    SERIAL CABLE AND CIMCO

    Dear ,
I work with NUM750 old controller and using serial cable to send data
1- the configuration of SERIAL cable

PC 9-bin CONNECTOR to CNC 25- pin CONNECTOR

    1 +4 8+20
    2 2
    3 3
    4 +1 6
    9 7
    6 20+8
    7 5
    8 4

2- I USING MASTERCAM TO CONVERT MY DROWN TO G-CODE
AND CIMCO TO SEND MY PROGRAM

the 432 control needs only a 3 wire cable. just swap the "send" and "receive" pins (eg pin 2 to 3, then pin 3 to 2) ground pin 7 to ground pin 7. Set machine constant (N770, or in that area) for handshake to " XON XOFF 3 wire", adjust baud rates, stop bits ect. to match, that's it

    Hi Khaled
    I use EdgeCAM for DNC.
Pin Connections are for a standard RS 232 connector

    Computer
    9 Way
    Cable Screen N/A
    3 Transmit
    2 Receive
    7 Request to send
    8 Request to send
    5 Signal ground

    Computer
    25 Way
    Cable screen
    2 Transmit
    3 Receive
    4 Request to send
    5 Clear to send
    7 Signal ground

    Control
    25 Way
    1 Frame ground
    3 Receive
    2 Transmit
    5 Clear to send
    4 Request to send
    7 Signal ground
    20 Data terminal ready
    6 Data set ready
    8 Data carrier detect

    Control
    9 Way
    Frame ground N/A
    2 Receive
    3 Transmit
    8 Clear to send
    7 Request to send
    5 Signal ground
    4 Data terminal ready
    6 Data set ready
    1 Data carrier detect

Flow control protocols fall into 2 basic groups.
Software handshaking Xon/Xoff, transmit on/transmit off are commanded by the control characters DC1 and DC3.
Hardware handshaking - Request to send / Clear to send or Data terminal ready / Data set ready.

    Software handshaking

    Computer
    9 Way
    3 Transmit
    2 Receive

    Computer
    25 Way
    2 Transmit
    3 Receive

    Control
    25 Way
    3 Receive
    2 Transmit

    Control
    9 Way
    2 Receive
    3 Transmit

Only 2 and 3 (crossed over) are actively used for the three forms of software handshaking.
No handshaking - no DC1 or DC3 signals usedfor flow control
    Xon/Xoff - DC1 starts and DC3 stops transmission
Xon/Xoff wait - As above but transmission starts on first DC1

    Hardware handshaking
Pins 2 and 3 are still used but with others for the two basic forms of handshaking RTS/CTS and DTR/DSR
Request to send / clear to send
Relies on high and low voltage on control lines RTS and CTS
    9 way pins 7 and 9
    25 way pins 4 and 5

Data terminal ready / Data set ready
Relies on high and low voltage on control lines DTR and DSR
    9 way pins 4 and 6
25 way pins 20 and 6 this protocol is rarely used by the PC but often used by the machine tool's contoller which also uses Data carrier detect (pin 8 on the 25 way plug).
DCD detects the presence of the RS 232 cable, therefore pins 6,8, and 20 are usually linked at the 25 way controller end.

    Hope this helps

This may also be of some help.
Frame ground - this line can be connected to the cable shielding
Transmit - output data from computer to the control
Receive - data received from the control by the computer
Request to send - high during output, low during input
Clear to send - high for output
Data set ready - high for input
Data terminal ready - high at all times
Signal ground - connect at the signal ground at the control end
