Turret trouble Puma 10S

Hello Gentlemen..

Was running a part today and caught turret going to tool 11 instead of tool 12 like programmed. E-stopped immediately and reset it. Tried to manually change tool and turret was locked. Turned machine off and restarted and would do one manual tool change but still one tool position off and then turret would lock. Machine does not alarm at all. After playing with it further, you can e-stop and reset and it will tool change one time and turret locks up. You can do this repeatedly with same results and still remains one position off. I took the Turret unclamp solenoid appart and cleaned it..no help. The TIP and TNC switches both light up. The top one stays yellow all the time and the bottom one flashes red when turret is rotating. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Trying to get parts out tommorrow and no one can come out and look at till next week.

Thanks...Kenneth

Update

Still looking for help on this. I have replaced both proximity switches (tool in position and tool counter), the limit switch box (that also says it is a tool counter) and all five relays for the turret (on PB2 board), as well as cleaned both the clammping solenoid and turret pin solenoid and checked the TCP switch which is good. I did notice that when the turret rotates CW now, that the turret does not stop in position for turret pin to be located but works everytime in CCW position. It does keep correct tool postion count now, though. Any ideas??

Thanks!!

I would hazzard a guess that the cam that controls the clamp/unclamp is not aligned to the clamp positions or the hydraulic motor is overshooting

Turret Position Problem

Hi There;

I suspect that you may have several issues. One being that if you can index one position at a time and off by one or more tool position you have a mechanical alignment problem.
When you index does the Tool position change on the CRT? Also the second issue would be Encoder Timing issue on the Tool Positioning . Does the Turret have an Idexing encoder?
If it does then I would recommend to continue trying to index the turret until you get to the Number 1 tool position. If it locks down at the number one position check and see if the LED is turn on the encoder for this position.
If it is not , push in your e-stop and adjust the encoder until it does come on and then power the control off and back on. This would only be helpful if there is a Turret Position Encoder. After power back up the CRT should say you are at the Number 1 tool position.
If you have the manuals for this machine there should be a procedure to follow to mechanically and electronically re-align the turret.
Any way post back with any findings .
