    Puma 230MSB and thread milling

After trying for way too long I found out that the Puma230MSB can't thread mill along the Z axis because it has no Y axis. Trying to use g12.1 gives me a plane selection error. There has to be a way to get around this because I need to thread soft nylon and single pointing only makes a mess of it.

I'm using a Z live tool drive and can easily take the cut in one pass but how do I calculate the feed rate for 18TPI?

    Puma 230MSB is a lathe with C-axis, right ?
    you don't need a Y
    - bring the tool down to clearance on Ø
    - start sub-spindle
    - feed cutter to Ø
    - feed ( C-axis 360° CW ) & ( Z- axis 1 pitch ) in 1 block
    - feed cutter out, & done

    ie. 150mm thread x 3mm pitch x 10mm deep
    Code:
G144 ( eg. code for milling mode)
    G0 X100. Z0. C0.
    Z-7.
    G101 X75. F100.
    G102 Z-10. C360.
    G101 X100.
    G0 Z0.
G145 ( eg. code for turn mode )
Note--my g-codes are ficticious, but the concept is thee

    Thanks!

I'll give this a try this AM.

I was over thinking the entire process.

    Tried what you suggested Superman

And it works like it should.

Just wish I could get the C rotation past 12000 deg / min.

    Thanks
