I remember back in the day, it was a bad idea to plug in or unplug serial peripherals with things powered on. I think it was because of PC driver issues which wouldn't load right on power on. Is it a problem to connect or disconnect a data connection to a Fanuc 18T while it's powered on? |

| when hooking up our laptop to the machines we do not power down, plug it in, then power back up. You are talking about the printer and printer drivers installed correctly. RS232 for communication to CNC is fine. Just don't boot your comm software untill the connection is made otherwise the software will not see it and you will get an error.
