Lynx 220a or 220c reccomendations

Hello, I have a one man shop and am interested in adding cnc lathe work to my shop.

I have been looking at used cnc lathes, talked to a dealer today and was surprised the deal I could get on a brand new Lynx.

I am unsure whether to get the 220a or 220c.

The 220c gives you an 8 inch chuck instead of 6 inch chuck and a 2.625 bar capacity diameter versus 1.75 for the 220a.

The 220a is 6000rpm where the 220c is only 4500rpm.

I am a small job shop and undecided which to get since I currently do not do any cnc lathe work.

I can get a much better deal on the 220a, and also a tailstock.

Any reccomendations greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Joe

I was in the exact same situation as you and we went with a used Lynx 200, with the tail stock and 6" chuck. For the work we were doing the diameter was not the problem but the fact that the Z travel is short. The most we could bore was about 5.5" deep because the travel was only about 12".

If it is a lot cheaper and you think it will work for your sizes go for the little one, but then again even 4500RPM is plenty enough speed.

Daewoo are good machines though, unfortunately I got stuck with a Mitsubishi controller.
