I'm look at the 220LC, any one have experience with these? It's this or Haas SL-20 or Femco HL25 Durga. They're all in the same price range. Help me out boyz.

Compre the price of a Lynx 220 to a Mori Dura. Also compare everything that comes with the machines too. I think you will find the Lynx comes with a lot of extras that you have to pay for on others. Excellent buy for the money.

I totally agree with that. I just bought 2 Y axis NL's. The Daewoo/Doosan machines had more in the way of 2-3 live tooling holders coming with the machine while the Mori does not include any. But the Mori Dura now comes with the MAPPS III control and I think the Mori is superior to the daewoo/Doosan. I have a friend that has 4-Lynx 220's and he said they are good machines but not what they should be.

| W can you elaborate on the statement " not what they should be" that could mean that they have the wrong decal on the sheet metal for all we know.

I know of 2 near me. One I used to work on, the other belongs to another shop (though I know the guy). Both machines have proven to be reliable after 4 years+. The only issue I can recall was the pads on the tool setter probe have a tendency to stick on. No major problems. Very good value for money machines. Fast too!! Both were running Fanuc 21iT controls.

" Not what they should be" meant the machines did not hold tolerances like their 20+ year old Mori did. I am not trying to start a DAewoo/Mori war by any means. I had Daewoo machines quoted against Mori machines and I chose less Moris instead of more Daewoos. I do not care for Fanuc controls and the NL Y axis series lathes are far superior to the Daewoo Y axis lathes. I am sure that a 220 is not a bad buy, just I did not feel it was the right choice for me.

A NL-2500SY/700(10" chuck, 3.1" bore, 27" Z with sub spindle) and a NL-3000Y/1250(12" chuck, 3.5" bore, 52" Z with tailstock). I paid close to 190K for the NL-2500SY. I think the tailstock version was bout 30K less. I would have to dig up the quote in the morning. A friend has a Puma 2000SY that is about a year or so old. I believe his was about 200K when it was said and done. I had quotes on the Doosan Puma 2500SY also. After considering each machine, I decided the Mori had a better designed turret and a better control. I run a lot of jobs with Sandvik devibe bars. The Doosan did not have the rear clearance that the Mori offers. I can not stand to cut a $2000.00 boring bar because it is a little too long. The machines are scheduled to be delivered on march 14. I can post a pic or two if you would like.
