Is it possible to read spindle load to detect worn out tools?

Ive got a Puma 400 with Fanuc 21IT control. If there were a way to run a macro inte background of the nc it would be easy to do, but mabe there are a function like this already in the control? Any one with ideas?

How old is the machine? I think most of the new ones come standard with tool load monitoring. See the attached PDF

I am new to the machine, just started on a new job in Norway. My boss did say that the machine could monitor the load, but he had no idea how it worked. The machine is from 2006 and I think it got this option. . Thanks for the tip..

Or any others for that matter. WE have a Puma 2000sy with fanuc 18I
