Cheers all. Puma 2000sy Question-I use the torque skip function when passing parts from main to sub. I understand that the sub will sense any obstacle before reaching final B sub spindle move and stop to avoid a crash. What I am wondering is if the same function could be used to start a tool operation. Let's say you command a tool to a G1 -Z position using the torque skip function and want it to move to next g code block once it senses the initial contact/cutting of the stock. Application would be for chucking. As a replacement for a collet stop/using the turret to set stop or bar feeder stop. As long as the operator chucked the part within lets say half an inch of g54 z0 the machine would do the rest. Starting the first block somewhere in positive Z and moving until it made contact with the stock. Once the it feels torque in the turret it would advance to the next block an continue the program. Is the torque skip function sensitive enough to "feel" that intial cut? Anyone have experience with this? TY. Last edited by g30u0w0; 01-15-2008 at 08:12 PM. |

| You know I read my post, it sounds confusing. Here is a copy of a cutoff/transfer from main to sub using torque skip for sub b axis. Can this be applied to turret as well? G31 is torque skip, if b axis senses anything between B -.83 and -.88 it will stop motion and clamp sub spindle. Otherwise it will continue to B-.88 and clamp, and continue cutoff.
