A suggestion for tailstock quill not advancing | | First try M78 and M79 in your MDI mode. If you cannot get the quill to advance then check the electrical schematic for your tailstock advance and retract. Find out what number parameter it is and check the correct bit or binary digit. Something tells me it's like the 6th bit and it should change from 0 to 1 or vise versa at this bit and parameter address. If it doesn't then you have a micro switch gone bad. You will have to take off the cover on the tailstock and shut the power off first. Then replace the micro switch. Sometimes the tailstocks have 1-2 micro switches on the dogs for the travel of the tailstock quill and then 1 usually on the pin that you pick up your tailstock with the turret. I would check this one first. These switches are about $10-12 at Grainger. Just make sure you mark where the 24v wire goes and the ground or you'll fry the 24v fuse or the board. |
