Mitsu or Fanuc controler?

I am looking at a 99 puma 200, with a Mitsu controller on it.

Has there always been Mitsu controllers offered for Daewoo machines, I thought that they were Fanuc only.

Does anyone have any likes or dislikes over the Mitsu, I havn't used one ever. The last time I used a Fanuc was about 6 years ago so its going to be a learning curve either way.

Buy me a Beer?

As far as part programming is concerned the commands and canned programs are virtually identical, Mazak have used Mitsubishi controls for many years so they have a wide user base, From the technical point of view, I prefer Mitsubishi mainly because of their cooperation from their parts & support.
I believe many of the DaeWoo machines used the M500 controller.

Actually I was talking with a fellow this evening and they have both mitsu and fanuc on there Daewoo lathes. He said the programing is so similar that I wouldnt notice the difference at all.

We once owned a Puma 250 with a Mits. control and I have nothing negative to say about it. Presently own a DMV 500 with the Mits. and a DMV 4020 with a Fanuc. In some cases I prefer the Mits. We use Gibbscam and I use the same Posts for both machines.

Fanuc/ Mitsubishi

stevehez,
I am not disagreeing, but why do you think Fanuc is better ? My only problem with our Mitsubishi ,and I was reminded of this last Friday, is the lack of servicemen in this area (Southwest PA.) that are familiar with the control.

Thank You,
Eric V. Cowden

Fanuc extended editing is great. Parameters are a breeze to change. Fanuc does things as a control should using g code language.

I have a Kia lathe with milling and some of the canned cycles do work and some don't work. Like peck drill side hole on X then plug in C's this that and it pecks first hole and G81's the rest.
I have trouble running DNC on my Mitsubishi controlled mill.
My Mit's controlled mill works great but any big edits are best left on computer.

Steve

Fanuc is more user friendley, I have a pumma with a mits and I dont like the editing, or the type 2 G71 cycle , on the mits you have to turn it on, with a funuc its in the program, so if you send a program with a type 2 roughing cycle and it is not on in the control, it will take the finish contour in one pass! not good, the editing sucks, you can edit in one column and have to press input to save the changes and then the cursa jumps back to the top??
so your always moving the cursa around, it takes a lot longer to program at the machine, and to search somthing in a program you have to put in the program number and the seq. number?? what if you punched in the wrong program number?? it would run the wrong program. this is on a M500 maybe the new ones are better. I like fanuc there simple and straight forward

Hello. If anyone needs M500 or other Mits support in the PA area, please do not hesitate to get in contact with me. I cover PA, NJ, DE, MD, WV, and NY. I love a good challenge!
