Well we just got our Puma 240B/FANUC CNTRL in a couple days ago and so far I am pretty happy with its overall function. I am trying to tap (3/8-16) a hole down the center of my first part. I have the spindle at 400RPM and Feed at .0625 IPR. My code was as follows ... M3 S400 G01 X0. Z1.0 G99 G84 R.4 Z-1.0 F.0625 G80 ... and what the result was is that the turret moved to X0. Z1.0 then WENT BACKWARDS by ~.4"(im guessing) AWAY FROM THE PART. THEN TAPPED THE HOLE AND CAME OUT. I was anticipating the R plane to be .4 away from the part. From further testing it seems that the R is an incremental value and that is why it moved away instead of to .4 away from the Z0. work offset. So i could correct the code to R-.6 to achieve the desired result. Can someone confirm or point me to where in the docs this is an incremental value? I am coming from Hass mills and G codes are quite different. Thanks, GH |
