| STS, Have you had a chance to run the same part on the Daewoo that you've ran on the Haas? If so, did you find that one ran the part better than the other?

| Not too many apples to apples comparisons yet. We are taking heavier cuts on the Doosan. Specifically with a 3 inch face mill on 4340 HRA stock. Cut width 2.5 inches X .1 depth of cut. The Haas's will take this, but not very well. The Doosan takes this cut with no problem, and could probably go a little deeper The standard "look ahead" on the Fanuc controller works well for most of our high speed aluminum solids applications. The standard Haas (not VF SS package) look ahead had to be upgraded to handle our high speed applications. Time will tell on the Doosan. We have been extremely happy with our Haas mills (and note: you could not pay me to own a Haas turret/slant bed lathe). I think maybe 3 or 4 service calls in 4 years (and half those calls were problems or crashes we caused) We have a VF3 SS with probing, paid under 90K for it. The Doosan without probing was 20K more. The Doosan is arguably a heavier duty mill. But with our particular applications, and our view of the Haas machine operator friendliness, I wish I would have contracted out the work and waited for the delivery of the Haas mill. Please understand, there is nothing wrong with the Doosan mill (and i admit I have had problems with our Daewoo lathes) and it is one heavy duty machine. But after running it for a month, we are having a little buyers remorse. |

| Programmed and ran DAewoo lathes and Mills for the past 8 years. Had a DMV 500...had a weak Y axis leading to bad finishes and vibrating that killed a few encoders. There was also a spindle motor mouting plate that contributed to the vibration. After Daewoo (before Doosan bought them out) fixed that, it was a pretty good machine. There's also 2 4020's and 2 3016's. Overall the machines were really dependable. We didn't have any serious crashes and any problems we had were either normal wear or lack of maint. Their lathes are great also. About the only complaint I have about the lathes is the live tooling heads......boy do those suck. |

Gentlemen, I am relieved to find that others have experienced similar failures with Doosan spindles in the DMV 4020. My dealer insists that I am the only one. I am currently down, after my 3rd spindle came to the grinding halt this morning. (950 hours total) I run a 1 man operation, R&D and short production, light to moderate feeds and speeds with nothing more harsh than a couple of broken taps. No crashes. My dealer tells me that both spindle #1 and spindle #2 failed due to an "impact", according to Doosan factory. Not true. My tech suggested that my shop was broken into after hours, machine and air powered up, crashed by these mysterious vandals, then returned to its power down condition as I left it. Absurd. I'm just glad my forklift works. Craig |

I believe there is m code for temporary disabling the doors so you can stick your head in for setup purpose, from mdi set your spindle speed and start it than enter at mdi M250 and realese the doors this should allowed you to open door. |

| I just ordered an HP5100 with a bunch of bells and whistles as well as a Puma 2000Y turning center. I also have a 220A lynx turning center and am pretty happy with it. I don't take delivery till late June because of moving to a new building, but I'm pretty jazzed. |

| I been been away for a while ,we are now on our fourth spindle mill went down 3 weeks ago .Were able to get 2300 hours out of the last one (3 spindles in 3100 hrs )This time we sent it out of the country to get repaired . Turns out the dealer put together a time bomb when he rebuilt it last ,we have been expecting it to go bang for the last 4/5 months as we have a strange noise coming out of the spindle , turns out he put a rooted encoder ring in there .Have ordered a new mill (Okuma ) and had hoped that it would show up before this went south but it didn't work out Does any one here have any one they know within Daewoo/Doosan who cares about they products because this whole thing has way past a joke Greg |

| STAY AWAY!!! i have a mynx 510 8k sprindle. I am a moldmaker. we baught the machine in order to take heavier cuts. but it never delivered. from the first roughing cuts the diflection of the spindle could make you dizzy. then the coolant through went out then the spindle went out (12500 euros) then we had problems with the lubrication. then the drives went out. not to say for the very bad contouring accuracy. In all axis. the dealer said that i am the only one. Very expensive rubbish. do your self a favor and stay away. regards Dimitris |
