Unless you are limiting your responses to folks with that particular machine, give us some more details. Is it an AC or DC spindle? Phase? Servo? Motor type? on a freq drive?
Hello everyone Im Brian and im new to this site. I was hoping someone could help me with a turning center problem. I have an old puma 10s with a fanuc 10 control. It was running fine and then the spindle speed jumped a couple times and then quit. The spindle drive alarm codes had the (2) light on. I believe this is (spindle deviates from commanded speed). After shutting down and restarting The spindle will turn at the slowest possible speed but still jumpy, and my load meter is at about 70%. If I try to increase speed at all it shuts down and I get the same alarm. I assume theres a short some where but was hoping someone might know a good place to start looking.
Any suggestions would be great
Thanks

Hi rwr,
I have attached the Fanuc troubleshooting method for this alarm.
But it sounds like there is a problem with your speed coder
there is a small timing belt connected round the spindle
it could be a fault with this belt or the encoder
