    Controller options

Where is the thread for discussing various controller options?

I have a small DIY router build in progress and I need a relatively inexpensive controller to drive three standard 1.8deg 1A steppers. I see this one on EBay and would like to ask some experienced people if this is what I need or not. I have a beefy 36V power supply. I have an ubuntu 8 machine running the latest EMC2 thru a parallel port.

I suspect there is already a forum for this but I can not find it for anything.

This forum is often used for discussing what motor controller to use with a router. There are also manufacturer specific forums on the main list as well as some general electronics forums.

I've never heard of this controller before, but it seems like a good price if it works well and is big enough for what you need. If you want to use a 36V supply, this controller won't work - it only goes up to 24V according to the ebay ad. The typical ones used around here are Geckodrive's and Xylotex. The Geckodrive G540 would definitely be an upgrade (higher voltage, 4 motor drives, higher current, likely more advanced drive), but it's $300.
