I want to fit a stepper to the leadscrew (and probably cross-slide) on a Boxford CUD. I'm looking for a standalone stepper motor driver and controller, something in a box with an LCD and keypad allowing me to set the distance it should move, without needing a full PC sitting there for full CNC control.
I have a small CNC mill and don't need this functionality on the lathe (yet).
Does anyone know if such a thing can be bought? I could build one driven by a PIC but time is short!
There have been a few DIY designs proposed but I've not seen anything affordable off-the-shelf.
Maybe you could consider fitting DRO to the Boxford.. that would get you part way.
