Meldas 520 Communication Problems

Hello, I am having problems as we had Windows 98 computers running EasyTalk to communicate between our Mills and computers. We had some Windows 2000 computers donated but with the same serial settings they will not transfer files properly. I get E17 Parity errors or E20 Overrun or E04 Dev not ready or a transfer that starts and then locks up the Meldas software. I am not understanding why the errors are always different or why if I set the settings within the EasyTalk and the computer serial port the same as the Windows 98 compouter why this would not work? Any help is greatly appreciated.

The problem is the new Win2000 PC is running faster and the communication port is probably different.

Check the FIFO settings on the COMM Port and make sure this is set to LOW or disabled. Also maybe try a line delay in transfering the file. This is probably a setting in the Easy Talk software.
