Quintax\Fagor 8070 Problems with CAN Nodes and Sercos Ring

Hey Everyone

I've been trying to figure this out for a couple days now...and Fagor's solution is to send *edit* the CNC Central Unit* in so that they can take a look at it. Unfortunately I don't really have time to send it there and was wondering if anyone has ever had the same problem?

One of the operators of the Quintax - Fagor 8070 was jogging the machine around and it just stopped. An error came on the screen:

Error 4000
Error when initializing the sercos ring
Logic Axis:
Transition: 127 (this number changes...)
Transition: 32 (this number changes...)
Wrong Value: 1 (this number changes...)
Wrong Value: 513 (this number changes...)
ID: 321-367

So that was the initial error. I tried restarting it a few times and all that did was give me more and more errors.

Error 6016
CAN error counter at critical level
ID 325-557

Error 6007 Watchdog in the COMPCI
Wrong value: -7
ID: 325-207

Error 6012
CAN Controller error
Wrong value: 324
ID: 325-536

Error 5014
Wrror when writing the digital outputs of the PLC
Variable: ID: 501-1571

Error 6006
Watchdog: one or several CAN nodes do not respond
Wrong value: -4
ID: 325-180

Error 6020
CAN cycle overlap
ID: 325-480

Now I was thinking that the CAN Bus (which I really do not know anything about) is either not sending the correct signals or is not receiving the correct signals.

All of the Servo Drives had a small "0" on them. I followed the purple cable from the "CNC Central Unit" that has a Brown, White, and Black wire in it, back to the electrical cabinet. This was the wire from the CAN Bus according to Burt at Quintax. We tested all the wires to make sure the connection was good to the I/O box and everything checked out.

We powered up the CNC again (the machine had been off for probably an hour) and what do you know...It works. Now I thought it was a wire had just rattled loose (which our maint. dept thought was impossible) and I closed everything up and the operator went back to trimming. About half an hour later, or less, the machine froze up again and had the same problem. Coming up with Error 4000 and all of the CAN problems.

I'm thinking it is the CAN Bus now since all of the drives are showing the same. I'm pretty sure the power supply is not the problem, but it IS flashing a Fault.

If it is the power supply (that one beside all of the servo drives), we have a different spare power supply from a Quintax/Fagor 8055. I'm not sure if they're compatible even though they have the same part number:

PS-25-B4

The difference is the 8070 has:
LSC: 31A
CTRL: 03A
VAR: 21A

8055 has:
LSC: 34A
CTRL: 07A
VAR: 21A

That's another option.

This morning, after being off the whole night, the operator tried running it again (before I got to work) and he got about 8 cycles out of the machine before it locked up again.

......So.....should I order a new "CNC Central Unit" (8070-VC-PC104-A) or is there something else we can try?

Thanks for any help in advance

Hi

Check 24V Power supply. All sercos and can devices including the CNC works with 24V DC.

What we ended up doing was replacing the CNC Central Unit. Pretty easy to take out of there and replace. We never sent the old Unit in to get checked out and repaired. When we do I'll ask them what the problem was and post the answer.

Thanks for your response
