    CNC - PC hardware location

Getting ready to build a stand for my CNC lathe.

Is it best to keep PC and CNC components in separate cabinets to minimize cross component noise or can they both reside in same cabinet?

    Thanks

I have used both methods with no problems, although of late I have tended to use Panel PC's, these are panel mount monitors and PC's in one compact package at the operator station.
The majority of commercial systems use one enclosure with no problems and they all start out with 5v logic module controller.
As long as the proper earth grounding and bonding is observed, you should have no problems.

Thanks Al that help alot it's amazing how much planning is needed on just the stand.

Also I will be using 2 VFD's and 2-3 phase motors. Would shielded wire be enough to eliminate problem there?

Speaking of grounding I ran a 100 AMP service to my shop from the house, it's around a 150' run, would it be advantageous to install another ground rod where it enter the shop?

I have always made sure the VFD motor conductors are tightly wound if individual conductors, the earth ground should run alongside from VFD to motor frame.
I have one installation with 3 VFD's running in the panel, I generally exit the panel the shortest way and use liquid seal metallic conduit to run the motor conductors in, this acts as shielding.
You should not need a ground rod as long as your earth conductor is the right size.
