Firstly I would like to thank everybody for all the information that is available here; it has been really useful on a number of occasions already.

I'm building a 3 axis machine (4 axis if this goes well) and I got to the stage of sorting the electronics out; my motors are only 1A so I got an integrated board to connect to LPT and do all my ins and outs.

I have run from a pc but it's a lot of hassle to have the machine and the pc in the same place and it would be much better if I could run things from my laptop. To that end I did some reading and found that usb to LPT devices cause a lot of problems for CNC; in order to avoid those issues I got an expresscard34 to LPT card but I can't get it working; I can't even find the card in device manager; can anybody give me any advice as to what's going wrong?
