kitigawa Mac mini set-up

Hi,
Just purchased a 2002 Kitigawa rotary indexer with Macmini controller. Trying to set it up for manual control initially and I cant get past the r400 Mzero un-set-up error. Is there something Im missing as the manuals are rather sketchy?

Everyone can stop looking...
The battery for the encoder (secretly mountd in the motor case of the rotary table) had gone 100% flat. A new 3.6V lithium battery from Radio shack later and the machine is set-up and ready to work. A lot nicer than the old Haas 5c unit.
