Hi, I am working on my own motor controller using a dsPIC30F4011 microchip. Right now I am able to make the motor rotate 200 steps per second in fullstep mode or 400 steps in halfstep mode in 0.5seconds approx. As soon I go faster the motor stuck. I use a very small stepper motor for my test (STH-39D118 - 5 volts/0.15A). What is the max speed for a standard stepper motor, big one (400oz-800oz) ? And smaller one like the one I use? Right now I don't really know what is the max speed a normal step motor controller is able to achieve. Thank you!

| A lot faster than that. Read on steppers and mechanical resonance.

| Ok, thank for the reply, I read that I need to start the speed lower and increase it with time. With some tiny test, quite impressive result, The step motor was doing like 5 rotations second without any sound lol. Well more test to come but that was cool to see the motor turn without any sound.
