Browser

What is the best to use? I am using explorer 8. Is firefox or google chrome better? What is the advantage of using anything other than explorer. I do not know much about none of these software so any help is welcome.

Personally, I use firefox and opera. I have never been a fan of IE regardless of the version.

Haven't tried chrome yet, but I usually have both of my browsers up and 10 - 20 pages showing at any one time. I know IE now has tabbing, but being old and set in my ways, I stay away from IE

The nice thing about Firefox are the add-ons. I use one called Tab Mix Plus that gives more control over tabs. I have about 12 tabs that I always leave open. When I close and restart Firefox, I'm already on 12 different sites. If I accidentally close a tab, I can reopen it. Another great one is Scrapbok. Saves entire websites to your hard drive, including any links.

I find firefox to be considerably faster. my wife will only run IE and when for some reason i need to use her browser it seems to drag along and her machine is is a desktop which is a lot faster than my laptop.... just my 2 cents worth.

I use IE8, it has a bunch of Add-ons

You can also resume last Session, If the browser is ever closed.

I tried FireFox a while back, reminds me of the old NetScape browser from the mid-90's lol Not to mention every time you load FireFox they want you to update the browser, Ugh... Maybe an on/off option for the updates?

I'll stay with IE8 for now.

Another vote for Firefox. It is engineered to be safer from malware, has more frequent updates. Using an add-in such as NoScript also enhances safety (but you have to click to allow connections you want) .

Another thing to consider; PDF documents and viewer now can allow malware onto a PC. I recently completely uninstalled Adobe Reader (many holes recently) and installed Foxit reader. Much faster, probably safer.

I use both Firefox and Chrome. I found both somewhat equal to work. If I am told to pick the better on of the two if would be Firefox. Firefox lags behind only while Google comes in the picture. Firefox does work faster with Google but I felt Chrome is faster in this case otherwise in all the other situations Firefox steals the show.

I use IE-8 + Avira (antivirus) been working great for a year now, I also use CCleaner to clear all the crap from my PC before I shutdown for the day.

I've been running Chrome past few weeks. I like Chrome because I can write my own extensions + it does play videos faster (for me) than IE-8
