I have a black line that appears when I open some programs. It is located just above the taskbar on the right hand side of the screen. I can put my mouse over it and it shows the memory used and the memory left. What does the present of this black line mean?

Sounds like you have a 3rd party app running that's monitoring your memory usage.
Can you take a screen shot of it?

I found out that the black line shows up when the software inventor is running. I have seen this on other computers when they are using Inventor. It must be part of that software.
