    it seems odd that the cert of auth would have a short set of numbers for the install. there should be 5 groups of 5 digits each, (including letter/number combinations).

    so your cert of auth only has 4 groups of 5? contact the place you bought it from, or microsoft.

    Are the numerals going in? Maybe you used the keypad with numlock off?

    that depends on where/how you got the software. if you got it legaly, you should have no problems; contact the company you got it from. if you bought it second hand, you may be in violation of a license agreement

    I bought a new OEM window OS and threw out the wrapper that had the codes, so I called MS and after answering questions they gave me the reg codes, the software must be legal as mine was.

    Jim Can I ask why you are using Win98 in the first place?
    With Win2000 or XP you are Much better off .
