| Larry, I think you mean Adaware. Adware is what is causing the problem. Adaware helps stop it. We use the Adaware on all our internet accessable computers... It has proven to be fast and very good. We run Spy Sweeper and Adaware. If I run Spy sweeper first... Adaware consistantly finds 6 to 10 problems that Spy sweeper didn't. If I reverse the process... and run Adaware first... spy sweeper finds nothing. Give the free adaware a try first... if you like it, then you can upgrade... we use the free version of Adaware.... I PAY for Spy sweeper.... Hmmmm... makes me wonder how smart I'm not! Ha! Hope this helps. |

Mine is Ad-Aware SE. It came with windows XP. I have a licence for Norton 360 which I bought in July. But had some much software problems with it and although Norton tried to help they just made the problem worse. My hard drive fried and I replaced it. I could reload Norton since its already paid for but I do not think I want the problems using Norton. Thanks for the Reply |

| Ad Aware is not an anti virus program. A good free one is AVG. http://free.grisoft.com/doc/download.../frt/0?prd=aff

| I've been using it for several years, on about 5 different PC's, and have never had a virus or a problem.

| What would/should you suggest that we use on Win 98SE? I"ve tried some of these programs and they don't want to work with 98SE. Or, are us lame a$$ yesteryear O/S users screwed? Although I'd like to U/g to XP, I simply don't have the $$$'s to throw away nearly 6 fully functional PC"s and all the software crap on them. I dunno whatever happened to "backwards compatible?. Thanks M?S for screwing the pooch whenever you can and will... |

| I had the free AVG and it really slowed down my system but I have heard many people say they like it. I have since gone to a free one called ANTIVIR which even though I had been running the latest and greatest of Symantec, it found 7 trojans after the first sweep. never had a virus yet but trojans can be every bit as nasty. SPYBOT SEARCH AND DESTROY also has a free personal use spyware sweeper. hope this helps |
