    Slow Network

I have a problem that I cannot figure out
I have 2 PCs networked though a Router (DLink DI524)
I also have an ADSL Modem (DLink DSL302G) connected to the Router
The problem is when one PC is doing anything on the INTERNET (Downloading-On line Games etc) The other PC cannot do anything on the net (Cannot find pages, Runs real Slow etc)
    Can anyone offer a solution
I have been told it could have something to do with IP addressing But I'm not sure.

Could be alot of things you should go back and run through the set up for the router again it sounds like you didn't properly configure nat in the firewall in the router but your Internet provider could also be doing mac address filtering to only allow one machine at a time. Any teenagers around that can help you ? also check your network configuration on the pc's make sure there obtaining ip addresses automatically (dhcp).

You may have to "clone MAC address" in the router settings in order to make it adapt the same MAC address as your original computer's network card. It may be the case that your ISP 'knows' about your computer network card's MAC address and so this is why that facility is provided in the router settings. Just my WAG.
First you get good, then you get fast. Then grouchiness sets in.

(Note: The opinions expressed in this post are my own and are not necessarily those of CNCzone and its management)

    Any other thoughts

Try & use only the DLink DSL302G.

Run 1 PC on USB, the 2nd PC on Ethernet.

Should have both ports on the DLink DSL302G

Connect the router to a switch and the two computers to the same switch. I use that configuration at home and my 3 PCs run without interfering each other, I have a fast DSL connection..

Setup a PPPoe connection on your DI524 router with your DSL302G modem.

Upgrade the firmware according to your router Rev level.
