I need help with a emulator card for a hurco my pc. History- I sent the card out to get fix but they said there was nothing wrong with the card. It worked fine for them. When I got it back I noticed that they had sent me a 9-pin cable with 2 female ends and I needed a male on one end. There cable used 2345 pins. Anyways I put a male end on it and hooked it up, and it did not work I got tape interface not ready, that means there is something wrong with cable. I called amts where I sent the card and they said to try the 25-pin instead, so I did that and nothing. My question is -is there a way to test my 9-pin at the computer to see if its working. I also have a tester for 25-pin but not sure I fully understand how to operate. Any help would be great.... |

While at Radio Shack, pickup a DB9 null modem connector as well.

Hurcojohn, I did not send it to cmc I sent it to amts and found out from cmc that I need software, the folks at amts did not ask or tell me about any software that I needed all they said was to download some programs from their web site. The rs-232 and the 5150b3.exe I did that and nothing.

drill...if the cable\board are known good, we need to make sure you are using the correct port in the rs232 software (proper software), select f5 utilities, then f1 to select proper comm port (usually 1 or 2), but we HAVE to know if the cable he sent back was tested as good...also make sure the cable is connected from the emulator board to the cnc cpu board properly also...buddy at amts should be able to assist...

Yes thats whom I delt with and the card Buddy said was good and I purchased the 9-pin cable from him I have tried every port in utilities and only 1 and 2 give me a tape not ready. 3 and 4 do nothing. The cable he sent back was pinned 2345 and my cable it 1 through 9 staight from 10 pin on board. He had said that that is the cable he uses on his cards but my card is a hurco not a amts he said that should not make a diff.

drill...IF: the emulator board is good\tested, the cable between the emulator and your pc is good\tested, your pc\com port are good, the cable between the emulator and the hurco mpu board is good\properly connected and you still get the not ready error, it is probable that your hurco mpu board is at fault (rare)...
