com prt problems

I’m new to this forum, and i sending this from Sweden.

I'm planning on building a CNC machine.
I have bought 3 Axis CNC Router Stepper Motor Driver Kit NEMA 23
but there is a problem.
Conecting the driver board to the compuer with the DB25 parallel cable. Idon’t have a 25 pin com port. I only have two 9 pins.
What to do? Please help me.

Most likely your kit requires a 25-pin parallel printer port ("LPT port"), not a COM port.

So if your PC does not have a parallel printer port, you may have to find a PCI parallel port add-on card to plug into your PC and then you can plug the 25-pin cable into that.

Is your computer a desktop or laptop?

If it is a desktop you can add a PCI parallel port card and use the 25 pin parallel cable. If it a laptop you can use a USB controller board like a KFlop, or a SmoothStepper.

You can use a SmoothStepper or KFlop with a desktop as well.

A USB controller is a better choice than a parallel port, as it will provide a better stream of steps for your machine.
