I have a 1997 hurco bmc30. The bios will no longer post and after replacing the 486 dx2 processor still I have nothing. The machine Manuel states that it has a standard off the shelf IBM at style motherboard. I cannot find the same board and the searches have returned nothing from the info on the board. I have come up with 2 ISA motherboards. There are three ISA slots on one and 2 on the other. The ISA cards in the machine that I need to connect are a colorgrapics communications video card, a can bus controller card, and a mdx4 io module. I would like to know what issues I will have getting them to work in the boards I have acquired. I have a new flash drive in the machine that is good and has all the software loaded on it. I would like to use the board with 2isa slots and use a pci graphics board. What issues will I run into and is this even a possible solution? Thanks. Judleroy |

| I assume you've replaced the battery on the motherboard. I doubt you'll find a new 486 new but there may be secondhand ones around. I see no reason why the ISA slots will not function as the old ones did but the graphics card will likely cause problems as the interrupts are dealt with differently between ISA and PCI. However this company provide PC's with 3 ISA slots: ISA Slot Computers |

| That company also sell motherboards. If you don't know how to correctly identify the manufacturer of your mobo as opposed to who sells it look here: Identifying A Motherboard | Friendly Expert Computer Help |

| Thank you for the info hippywarlock. What do you mean by interrupts. What does this mean about how the system operates and what problems might it cause. Could it do damage to any of my boards or hardware to give it a try. I also have another motherboard with three ISA slots. Could there be an issue with not using the original graphics card but switching to another ISA graphics card. Thank you. Judleroy |
