Nice, if you like Intel...and their "I can't beleive anyone will buy one!" Extreme Editions.Originally Posted by WallCrawler
I prefer the better cost and performance with the AMD processors.
Don't mean to be too harsh. What do you plan on using this machine for?
EDIT: Judging by the video card, gaming? Sure you want Intel?

Try doing some photo realistic 3D rendering, or moving million + polygon models around on the screen. You can always use a faster computer for these types of applications.Originally Posted by CNCadmin

Intel yesOriginally Posted by JavaDog

The Extreme Editions Duel Core is for testing of what?

Medical software tests that only certifies Intel chip sets not AMD.![]()
Apps like this.
The Extreme Edition is Intel's "numbers" chip. It was made to win a numbers war with AMD. They priced them so high because their yield is extremely low on them and they really don't want people to buy these chips in heavy numbers.Originally Posted by WallCrawler
Basically, the AMD 64bit Dual-Cores out perform the higher-priced Intel chips in every benchmark, Video Editing used to be one section where AMD won out - but even that is no more. I won't even get into the fact that the Intel chips are disgusting when it comes to power usage and heat output compared to the AMDs...
The AMD 64bit Dual-Core Opterons win again , and again , and again , and again , and again
At the end of the day though, it is your money and your system - will be blazing fast no matter what.

Why so much power.Originally Posted by WallCrawler
I have some of my clients who want to have theses EPC systems.
Allot more people are getting into home video editing.
The software they are buying needs power from what I am reading off the boxes there are buying. And home entertainment systems they want as well. People have money to burn I will help them with that.
I think Apple is better for video editing but people are scared of the unknown with apple how to use so on.
So they are looking to have a power house like this, at the same time have a system that cane be upgrade to Longhorn or XP64 in time.
The system is going to be used for this kind of testing.
the will be 2 drives for 2 different OS one XP 32 bit One for XP64/longhorn.
Which I have the 64 bit software coming to me in my action pack.
So yes NASA does have theses kind of system in place all ready.
Except for the EE, the other Intel dual cores are priced much lower than AMD's, aren't they? Under $300. Not sure what the AMD's are.
