Good Morning to All of You, We have got a Oerlikon (Germany Make) Blade Grinding Machine Model B27 with CNC system of Fanuc 160i controller & Micorsoft Windows 2000 Professional Operating system with Pentium 3 processor. Kindly go through all the point mentioned below and advice Yesterday we had power faulire and after that when we switched ON the machine, booting stops with blue dump screen with following message/error appearing on CNC Monitor (LCD) ***STOP:0X0000001E (0xc0000005, 0xbfff6bb3, 0x000000001, 0x0000000C) KMODE - EXCEPTION - NOT ALLOWED *** Address BFFF6BB3 base at BFFE5000, Date Stamp 3e4a71b3 - pcmcia.sys If this is the first time u have seen this STOP error screen, restart computer. If error repeats, follow following procedure. Check to be sure U have adequate disk space. If a driver is identified in a Stop message, disable the driver or check with Manufacture for Driver Update. Try changing Video adapters. Check with ur Hardware vendor for any BIOS updates. Disable BIOS memory options such as Caching or Shadowing. If u need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer. Press F8 to Select Advanced Startup options, & then select safe Mode, Refer your getting started manual for more information on troubleshooting STOP errors Tried following a) Switched OFF the machine, disconnected power and data cbales from Floppy & CD driver, taken out ethernet cable, CNK1 and CNK2 cables from Fanuc MDI unit & switched ON, still same message b) Pressed F8 and tried to selct boot with Last Good confguration, still same problem c) To run Checkdisk (that means to run command CHKDSK/F), selected option of Coomand prompt, still same message d) Selected Safe Mode then booting stops with message INACCESIBLE BOOT DEVICE, Remove any newly installed hard drives or hard drive controllers. Check your Hard drive to make sure it is properly configured & terminated. Run CHKDSK/F to check your hard drive corruption. PLEASE NOTE THAT WE USED TO HAVE SIMILAR PROBLEM WHENEVER MACHINE WAS OUT OFF AND ON BUT AFTER KEEPING THE MACHINE OFF FOR FEW HOURS, IT USED TO BECOME ALRIGHT AND BOOTING USED TO GET OVER WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS but this is not the case this time e) There is SDRAM of 512MB on Fanuc System PCB, switched off the machine and taken out SDRAM, did not find much dirt in it, still cleaned with cotton soaked in ethyl alcohal & fitted back correctly in the slot, but after that when we switch ON the machine, we just get a bright white screen & after that screen changes over to black dark screen & nothing appears further on the screen, in normal condition, after bright white screen , screen changes over to black dark screen & RAM test etc takes place & hard disk, CDROM Mouse etc are detected Kindly advice if you suspect problem to be due to SDRAM due to which screen is not appearing and secondly whether faulty SDRAM can cause blue dump sreen with STOP message at the time of booting?????????? Kindly reply sir as Machine is under Breakdown Kindly reply to maddala.rishikesh@tatamotors.com Warm Regards, M. Rishikesh |

| Sometimes during a power outage, the operating system gets garbled on the hard drive. This usually requires a reinstall of the operating system and then restoring from your back up (you do have back up don't you). However it seems that you further complicated things by taking out the SDRAM and probably zapped it with some static thus the blank screen at start up. You will have to replace the memory. Please use static safe procedures when handling memory cards as you may not feel the static that can destroy the chip. Afterwards reinstall your operating system. Good luck.

Thanks a lot for ur reply We changed SDRAM and run Emergency Boot CD of MS 2000 and recovered lost files/flders and now it is fine Kindly reply to following a) Since last 6 months or so, Whenever we used to switch OFF and Switch ON the machine, we used to get blue dump screen with STOP message/error, so please let us know if this was due to faulty SDRAM or u suspect it became faulty due to static charges of hand ?????????? because we always handle SDRAM by holding it at its corners and avoid tocuhing ICs mounted on it Kindly explain b) We have got another machine with Industrial PC. After switching ON the machine, nothing is appearing on dispaly and only Power LED (Green) is blinking on it. On the CPU, there is On/Off Pushbutton, if we press this then CPU getting ON, Green LED on Floppy drive getting ON, Green LEDs for IDE and Power get ON & only at the start, Caps Lock & Scroll LEDs on Keyboard get ON and OFF We did following : 1) Opened cover of CPU, cleaned it with low and dry ari pressure, cleaned Fan etc. 2) Taken out SDRAM (256 MB, PC133), cleaned its strip with white paper, also celaned slot on CPU where this SDRAM is plugged in 3) tried with another SDRAM (512 MB, 133 MHz IBM Make) 4) Tried by placing this SDRAM in next slot 5) Taken out VGA card externally plugged on PCI slot, cleaned it Do u suspect VGA card or anything else because this machine is a testing machine and dispaly remains ON most of the time & machine is around 5 years old, so far we never replaced anything on the CPU Pl advice at maddala.rishikesh@tatamotors.com Regards, M. | Computer problems like this are difficult to diagnose without actually seeing the equipment set up. But you said "2) Taken out SDRAM (256 MB, PC133), cleaned its strip with white paper, also celaned slot on CPU where this SDRAM is plugged in" which could have created static and you were directly touching the contacts on the card. I have seen static discharges of inches from just walking across a carpet so holding the edges of the card are not enough. You should always wear a grounding band unless the cards are in their protective container. This also applies to video cards as well. The blue screen problem may have been due to a slow drive. As drives age, they don't come up to speed as quickly and may not be ready to be accessed when the POST is done. Resetting the machine will then work because the drive is already running at speed. But again, difficult to tell without actually looking at the machine. Good luck.

| A) Very good possibility of RAM. Blue Screens in Win2K are most often due to hardware, with RAM being the main culprit. B) Sounds like the power supply may be going bad. Can you test with another?
