CF cloth project

hey guys. this is my first CF project. i am building arcade sticks out of 8 harness satin CF for my friends and myself. i am aware of all the safety precautions of messing around with CF dust. i will be putting the laminating resin on myself with the molds i made.

my question is... would it be easier to cut the holes out before i laminate or after? also i will be using 24mm and 30 mm hole saws, so do you guys have any suggestions on a good carbide or diamond bits?

Its going to be easier for you to drill the holes after you laminate the cf. If your just making a few of these for friends, a standard steel bit will do the job. If your making more than a few of these, then you should probably look into more expensive tooling.

I'd drill/cut it while it was still in the green stage (still plastic and not stiff).
You could make a sample piece and try different speed strategies to try out.
Or,you could make a sharp die and punch out the holes while still green. When it hardens you could dress up the edges.
Just a few thoughts = Welcome aboard and have fun.
Cheers - Jim
