What is a good rule of thumb for the depth to pocket out letters in a sign based on a given letter height size? Have a 4'x8' sign to do with letters ranging from 2" tall to 8" tall need a good depth to cut them in so they look good. Donny |

| Do you have a particular material in mind that looks better when machined to extreme depths? Other than that, I don't know that depth has much to do with the legibility of the sign. What width are the narrowest parts of the lettering? If a delicate tool point is required somewhere, it will not stand the possible extreme cutting of the heavier portions.
