    FR4/Garolite question

I have some lengths of FR4 for a project. They are 1.5 inch x 0.5 inch cross section, 2 feet long.

I'll need to cut them to length.. dosen't need to be precise. I guess I could use a hacksaw, but was wondering if I could use my Makita compound mitre saw. I'll need to make 3 or 4 cuts.. will this ruin the blade of the mitre saw?

Then, I'll need to drill and tap some holes. The tapped holes need to be about 6-32 or maybe 8-32 through the 0.5 thickness of the material. I'll need to drill and tap maybe a dozen holes. Will I need to buy special drills and taps, or can I use the HSS ones that I already have?

Any other tips about working with this material would be appreciated. This is not for produciton in large numbers, just a few holes for this one project.

    Thanks,

    Neil

With a carbide blade you should be ok. It won't kill your saw juts clean it up after your done.

Cool, thanks. That's going to make this much simpler.
