Question Router Bits and Collets from China?

As we continue to prepare the new CNC Routers for use we need to find a supplier of quality bits and collets over the Asian side of the world.

There are considerable savings in buying our CNC Routers from China, so surely it would follow that we can save money by purchasing our bits etc from the same region.

I believe that a lot of Chinese are following the threads in this section of the forum. Can any of you please advise the names of the suppliers in China of bits and collets? Maybe even post Links?

After we can find a good supplier - we may be interested in making bulk purchases of these products.

Any advice welcomed and appreciated.

Rocket.

router bits/cutters

hello rocket,

it is a very good idea to source for cutters from china. you can try http://www.djtol.com/index.html . i think they supply excitec and some other CNC manufacturers. i have been talking to lin in the company for my tools. i think they are flexible. they have about 4 grades of carbide cutters, the highest i believe is about the best grade you can get in europe. their prices are also on the website so you can have ideas and compare before you place orders. they also have grinders but i dont know how well the grinder will sharpen. i will pay for my own orders in a few days.

Great Info

Hi Priestwood, Thanks for posting the Link.

I have printed out a lot of the details and will do a cost comparison later.

Regarding the different grades - Is German K55UF Micro Grain Solid Carbide far superior to K200 Micro Grain Solid Carbide for woodworking tools? There is a hefty price difference between the two.

I am comparing the prices to an Australian suppliers price list -
http://www.mcjing.com.au/categorybro...?categoryid=97

The prices from the list above appear to be quite competitive for Australian buyers.

Hi Nona, welcome to the forum.

I have no idea if they are the same company - but if it is - you should be happy. Excitech are excellent machines. There is always plenty of help for you in the Excitech threads on the forum.

Great idea for a post Rod and we are very intrested in cutters as well. I purchased a long series 8mm bull nose here in Adelaide and it bl***y cost me $138 for 1.
Would love to find some more long cutter at a good price.

carbide cutters

hello rocket,

i have checked the website you posted, are the prices American Dollars or australian Dollars?.

i consulted with a local importer here about the grades of the carbide. he said German K55UF Micro Grain Solid Carbide is about the best you can get anywhere in europe. he said AA will be perfect for MDF and particle board. he believes if properly produced, AAA will be better for harder materials.

whichever way, i think both quality and price should be considered.

Hi Priestwood, The prices are Australian Dollars. Currently the Australian Dollar converts to about 0.83 US.

I have made a conversion chart for RMB (CNY) to Australian Dollars, and right now i can see no great benefit to buy the bits and collets from China. The prices in the Link i posted are fairly similar, without the need to ship from overseas.

For example ER25 collets are AUD $15.77 each and ER 20 collets are AUD $14.02 each, yet on a US website i found them for USD $13.50 each.

So my search for a reasonably priced supplier in Asia continues.

Hi Simon, That sounds pretty expensive. We have the same problem. Adelaide is a backwater town when it comes to buying bits locally. Try the McJing site for your prices.

We bought some bits from a USA supplier last year ( Routerbits.com ) the prices were very competitive, shipping was reasonable and the bits arrived in one week.

Still waiting on some prices from China and Taiwan from Router Bit suppliers.

Today i was browsing another Forum and came across some special offers from a couple of USA suppliers. Here are the links

http://www.mlcswoodworking.com/shops.../bt_plung.html

http://www.eagleamerica.com/product/...groove_forming

Both seem to be very good value.

Have come across some Router Bit kits at very low prices, but they all include bits with the bearing on them which is useless for our purposes.

I will continue to add information about Bits and collets to this thread. If anybody has any Links to add regarding suppliers - please post them.

Rocket.
