I am in the process of buying my first cnc router for mostly cabinet work.
Came across a used Gerber Sabre with vacuum board and 7,5 kw vacuum fan. Would be most grateful for some advice about if this is a better buy than a new (entry level) cnc. Asking price is $ 18k but I think it can come down to 15k. It runs on a computer with Artpath 7. Used only for 90 degree trough cuts. They said it cant run 2,5D.
My concerns are these:
1. What parts do I need to change for the machine to run with modern software 2,5 and 3D? Or can it be done with new software alone?
2. The circle I had them run (see image) is not totally cut. Where the bit enters and leaves there is a piece left. Does this indicate that the ballscrews are worn out?
3. Is it better to put the money on a new for instance, EZ-router than to fix this one up?
It is tempting to go with this one as it looks to be of sturdy industrial quality and has a vacuum table.
Thanks for any advice!
