    Prototype Carving machine

I've got a testing mule or prototype of a CNC wood carver machine, I'm putting it through it's paces now, but I'm new here and I'm wondering where my posts should be placed, it is NOT a DIY router machine, nor a Commercial Router Machine, thus, would my post go into the "CNC Machining Centers" section?

    Thanks!

Well, I guess someone moved my Question from the FAQ to here, so maybe that is a hint this is the place to post about my machine and the project I'm attempting.

Yep, that is the one, I've been playing with it, had some problems, turns out the USB memory stick I was using was not readable by the iCarver, dunno why. Bought a new one, and all is well.

The first carving I did with the iCarver, this is a pic they have loaded on the software to try things out. It is NOT large, and took an hour and forty minutes. The wood is just some pine I had sitting around, I'm sure that is why the Madonna looks a little "Fuzzy", also, this is a really detailed image, and I made it a little on the small size

This is just some text I tried out, first thing I created by myself.........

    End result

I'm totally new to this thing, so I know my first projects are simplistic, but I'm sure things will improve.

Now I got to read some on this software and figure out how to use it with the iCarver.

    Cheers!

This is a prototype, so there are still a lot of things not "Set" on the specs as of yet, so the price, who knows, I think they were talking in the $2K - $3K range, but, that is kind of a guess.

    I got some more done...........

I attached a piece of 5mm thick plywood to a much thicker MDF base, I used about 6 drops of CA glue to do this. It works, but the problem is on the last cut of each piece, the piece can go flying I used a pencil with an eraser on it to hold each piece on it's final cut, which is not very efficient, but it worked.

I then marked the center of the piece, to line up cutter.

I tried some larger stars, and the first few cut well, then the machine did a and things got weird I think the cuts were too heavy.

Yep, something went wrong, the cutter went way off the top of the work piece, so I'm sure that the cuts were too heavy, and the stepper motors lost a few steps, totally operator error

I marked out a new workspace, and redid the cut file, the stars a a bit smaller to save time rendering and cutting, as I'm still working on how this thing works

Yep, there they are, I see stars!

I put a piece of sandpaper on a board, and sanded the faces of the stars, that took most all of the little fuzzies off the stars.

I can sure see a lot of possibilities for this machine

Not being able to load gcode programs on the carvewright was one of the big bug a boo's I had with it.

I hope the iCarve system fixes this issue.
