My experience has been bad! I ordered one several months ago & it's never been delivered. My sugestion is to look elsewhere.

Well, I hate to hear that. Thomm seems like a nice guy when I've talked to him. How long ago did you order? Which product did you order?
I am thinking about going with the Romaxx, I just wish it was a little bit larger. I know Romaxx makes a larger version, but it's also about 2x the price. Not an easy decision with so many guys out there making machines...
logan, over on vcarves forum you stated you had purchased a router, i hope you did not purchase one of these! get the largest footprint and the best quality you can afford, the carvewright and the artrouter are not longterm capable of the type of carving you are asking for here!!
jim
Yes, I did post that. And that day I had my pay pal browser open to send payment for a Romaxx. So I guess I hadn't officially bought one, but planned to purchase that day. I've delayed that for hopefully not more than one week.
I actually tried building my own router. I got it working, but I was loosing some steps and it would jam up on me at around 100 ipm. I think I went too big with my first build. It had a cutting area of 36x36. Just too hard to get things perfect for that out of mdf and tools that are accurate to around 1/32 (table saw, etc). I made all my "beams" (excuse me for using that term here, I'm a structural engieer) out of a torsion box design, so I wasn't binding due to deflection. I believe it just plain and simple had too much slop in it. But I digress...
Hope you didn't think I was being dishonest in the Vcave forum. At the moment I thought I was purchasing a machine.
Any help you folks can give would be great. I need something with a cutting area of at least 14x24.
Thanks for the help.
no i did not think you were dishonest!, just hoped you had not made a mistake!!
welcome to cnc and all of it's complexities yes it cost a little money and i use mine in a cabinetshop as well so i have to be careful to remember that i have a use for it that supports the cost!! and if i did not it would simply be an expense
hope we can help here !!!

What about the sidewinders that sell on ebay?
http://cgi.ebay.com/CNC-Router-Milli...d=p3286.c0.m14
It looks a little light. But he says it's made from 14 ga or thicker steel and weighs around 110 lbs. Not really heavy, but decent weight for a benchtop I suppose.
to look at that art router setup i really question how rigid of a machine it is , the design is pretty funky looking and really doesn t in anyway look solid , to be honest it reminds me of one of those black and decker foldup work bench /saw horse dealy's
it may be ok but i wouldnt take the chance of buying one and be the first guy to say whether the machine is good or not
A poet knows no boundary yet he is bound to the boundaries of ones own mind !! ........
