Vacuum shroud fitting

Hello,

I have a new Techno tabletop router with a Porter Cable spindle, I need to fit the vacuum shroud that is held on to the spindle block with a metal bar. There is hole with a bushing (looks like brass) in the spindle block where the metal bar slides through and is held in place by a thumbscrew.

The bushing was tight and the bar needed some taps with a metal hammer to go all the way up, I used a piece of wood on the edge of the metal bar so it would not be damaged.

The Z axis was all the way up to the limit of travel, could the blows from fitting the bar through the spindle block damage anything (servos, limit switch, ball screw)?.
