Kustom Koncepts Shop Sabre 4x8 Machine

I received My Shop Sabre 4896 today. I want to see and hear from other SS owners and our other CNC friends about about some tips and tricks about the SS machine. What has SS owners done for table tops? Hold Down techniques Ect.

Other than some comical loading and unloading we did it was pretty straight foward. I could not get a picture of us loading it on the angled icie cement loading dock onto my bottomed out snowmobile trailer because I was hanging onto the back of the forklift with someone else to keep the wheels on the ground.

I have the machine all ready for the electrition tomorrow and I think I have all I need for now but I'm sure once I get it turned on I will have some questions on opperating.

excellent !!

what i was most impressed with is that no ones nose got broke !!!lol

good looking machine, strong spindle, was it basically plug and go on wiring??

is it three phase or single, you can machine your own vaccumm table, i saw a clamp hold down table made with extruded aluminum

heres a page on tops,

http://en.flexicam.de/step-2.-select...hold-down.html

here is aluminum slot extrusion you can inlay in mdf for hold downs, we cut panel parts out yesterday and had no problem with vacuum other than when i forget to turn it on

further

post some pics as you set up tool changer, the spindle has a collet nut on it,

i would think that would not be there, is it interchangable ??

or is that an interchangable collet with a collet nut for using er25 collets

jim

That's a tool holder in the spindle, probably for an ER32 collet. There should be a little button on the left side, where that notch is below where it says HSD, that releases the tool holder manually. At least there is on ours.

thanks gerry

i have yet to see a tool changer up close

so an er32 collet is basically a holder for connection and bits are set in with

er25 plus collet nut?

the collets go in there. there is one there from testing and shipping. They said make sure whwn you fire it up that the tool number on wincnc screen is the same number that has empty forks in the changer or it will crash it.

From What I can tell My machine uses ER 32 collets.

Kustom, do not tighten the nut like you have in the picture with the wrench on the nut!!!

It WILL NOT snap over the collet. You need to first put the collet into the nut all the way, then slide the bit into the collet, and thread it on as an assembly. The top of the collet should only be about 1/32 below the nut, not 1/4" like in your pic.

gerry is right

in my limited knowledge the collet will "snap" into the collet nut and mine will spin a bit, it does not take very much pressure to accomplish this, then we slip the bit in for tightning!! bought some amana bits at woodzone.com, their main store is here and the website is for hobbyist, while there i got amana's catalog there is a very good section on keeping all interior parts of collets clean as debris will prevent correct tightning of bits there is a lot of good info there jim

I see what I was doing wrong I did not tighten it that was only Hand tight but you caused me to look at it closer Thanks. I see what to do now and see how it works.

The collet snaps into that nut Via the oval shaped snap in ring machined into in the nut assembly. You can't have the tool in the collet and try to snap it in. you have to do it before but once it is pushed in that holds the collet inside the nut then you start threading it into the Holder and then put in the bit and tighten it up. it may seem complicated but I will try to show it best I can with these pictures. once you have it in your hands you will understand what I mean by the ova shape snap ring.
